Halifax Ditch £5 Clarity Card Reward

Written by Karen Bryan

halifaxclaritycardThe £5 monthly reward on the Halifax Clarity credit card is being removed from 30 September 2016.

It’s never been that easy to fulfil all the eligibility criteria to earn the £5 reward. You had to hold a Halifax current account into which you paid at least £1,000 a month, make at least £300 of purchases on your credit card that month, stay within your credit limit, and make the minimum monthly payment on the due date.

As I don’t always spend the required £300 per month on a credit card. I would only use the Halifax Clarity credit card in a month where I knew I would definitely spend £300 e.g if I was due to pay an insurance premium that month.

I’ll be keeping my Halifax Clarity credit card in spite of the loss of the £5 monthly reward. This is because there are no overseas transaction fees when you use the Clarity card to pay in a foreign currency.

There are no fees to withdraw cash at an overseas ATM when using a Clarity card. But you do have to pay interest on any cash withdrawn.

I use my Halifax Clarity card as the back up card for overseas ATM withdrawals, as my Nationwide Flex Plus debit card offers overseas ATM withdrawals with no fees or interest charges.
