Review of Holiday Inn Express Bradford City Centre

Written by Karen Bryan

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Bradford City Centre for five nights in April 2016. I used the HotelsCombined price comparison site to find the lowest price. That was £195 (£39 a night) on the advance payment non-refundable rate booked through Amoma.com.

If you arrive by car, parking is available in the Bradford Exchange, where there is a cinema, bowling alley and several restaurants.. We purchased a £10 weekly ticket. If you are only staying for one night, parking costs £4 for up to 24 hours. It is a bit daunting driving around Bradford city centre and finding your way back to the car park.

The hotel is very accessible by public transport as Bradford Interchange, where you can a train, bus or coach, is a two-minute walk from the hotel.

We were allocated a room at the end of a corridor, which meant that we didn’t hear much noise from other guests. It was located on the second floor, overlooking the top floor of the car park.

Our bedroom was spacious, despite having a sofa bed. The free WiFi was really good. I was able to upload photos fast and even watch iPlayer.

The bed was a bit on the soft side for my taste and there were a couple of bald patches on the carpet.

The bathroom had a walk-in shower. The thick, soft towels were better than in many four star hotels in which I’ve stayed.

Our room wasn’t cleaned on the final day of our stay. I’m not sure why. We could have phoned reception to request that the room was cleaned, but we just wanted to relax when we arrived back a the hotel.

Breakfast was a buffet. There’s was a good selection of cereals and hot drinks. The sausages and scrambled eggs weren’t great, but the croissants were excellent. The restaurant area was large ,with well spaced tables.

For the price of £39 a nigh including breakfast, I was very happy with the Holiday Inn Express Bradford City Centre. The location was convenient. I took the train to visit galleries, but it was handy to have the car nearby to get to more rural locations like the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The room was spacious and fairly comfortable. The staff were all friendly.
