Review of Chutneys Vegetarian Indian Restaurant Drummond St London

Written by Karen Bryan

There are several Indian restaurants in Drummond Street, near London Euston station, which offer lunch buffets for £7 per person. On my recent trip to London, I tried Chutneys Vegetarian Indian restaurant.

The interior of Chutneys is pleasant, but a bit cramped. It would have been tight for two people to get in and out at the table which was allocated. As I was eating on my own,  it wasn’t an issue.

When I arrived around 12.30 Chutneys was fairly quiet. By 1pm, it was mobbed with several large groups. This resulted in a long queue at the buffet. I was fortunate that I had already eaten my starter and had just selected my main course before it became busy.

There’s was fair selection of different starters and main courses. I’m not a vegetarian, but I’m happy to eat vegetarian food I wished that there had been labelling of dishes, as I wasn’t sure what some of the dishes were. However, everything I tried was tasty.

For dessert, there was gulab jamun (similar to donuts), fresh fruit and rice pudding.

I thought that at £7, the buffet lunch at Chutneys in Drummond St was excellent value for money. Id’ recommend that you either arrive around noon or 2pm to hopefully avoid the busiest period.
