Planning Your Shopping to Save More With Vouchers

tescovouchersWe needed to do some food shopping for Christmas and I had several Tesco vouchers to redeem. I’ve learned from the experience of being tesconfused that I need to plan my shopping very carefully to make sure I save as much as possible with vouchers.

I had the following Clubcard vouchers:

  • £5 off when you spend £50
  • Double Clubcard points
  • £2.50 off £10 worth of dairy products
  • £2.50 off frozen Wild Alaskan salmon (600 gr)
  • £1 off Typhoo teabags (160)

Tesco were also running a money off fuel promotion, with a voucher for 5 pence off a litre of fuel if you spent £50 in-store.

I managed to use all the Clubcard vouchers except the one for teabags. It was cheaper to buy another size which was on offer, so I binned that voucher. Don’t assume that vouchers offer the cheapest option, always do a comparison.

The total came to £52 after the vouchers were applied. I saved £10 on my shopping. I estimate that I’ll save around £1.50 with the fuel voucher, which has to be used by 29 December.

Was it worth the bother to save £11.50? I think so, we didn’t make a special trip to Tesco, the store was on our route back from a walk in the countryside. I only bought things that we regulary use or needed for Christmas lunch.
