Why You Should Enter Hotel Business Card Prize Draws

Jurys Inn Leeds roomYou’ve probably noticed the container for the monthly business card prize draw, sitting on the desk at reception in most hotels. I popped my business card in the prize draw box at when I stayed at Jurys Inn Leeds attending the Morrison M Savers Blogger Event earlier this year.

Well, the following month I had an email from Jurys Inn saying that I’d won the prize of a two night stay for two people including breakfast at any of their UK hotels, valid until 30 December 2012.

It took a few attempts to redeem my prize. I had to contact the Sales Manager at the Jurys Inn Leeds with my requested location and dates and she had to pass that request onto the Sales Manager at the relevant hotels. I didn’t ask to stay during weekends or what I thought were peak periods.

I have to admit that I’d forgotten about the prize after I was unable to arrange a stay in either of Jurys Inn London hotels in the Summer. However, I had a note in my diary to chase it up. I’ve now arranged a stay at their Edinburgh hotel for next month.

I checked on the HotelsCombined price comparison site and the cheapest price, on a non-refundable basis, for this two night stay was £112 room only (£128 on the Jurys Inn website) or £150 for bed and breakfast (£178 on the Jurys Inn website).

While not wanting to look at a gift horse in the mouth, I think it’d be better if prize draw winners received a voucher, say for the value of £200, which they could redeem against any stay booked on the Jurys Inn website. This would be a lot simpler and more flexible than the current prize redemption system.
