I purchased a Groupon deal restaurant voucher for the Angora Turkish Restaurant in Commercial Road in East London. The original offer price was £18, for two people to share 10 Mezes, plus a Turkish Tea and a dessert each, valid for lunch or dinner. However Groupon had emailed me a £5 off any offer code, so I only paid £13. Groupon claimed that the meal was worth £51.50; that seems a vastly inflated price to me.
I chose that deal as the location of the restaurant was convenient. I planned to go to Whitechapel Gallery in the morning and then head out to the World Travel Market at Excel in the afternoon. I was able to book a table for lunch on my first choice of time and day.
I’d say that the deal was good value at £13 for lunch, not so great for the full Groupon deal price of £18, i.e. £9 per person. I did see lunch buffet offers at other restaurants around London for around £8 per person. However, restaurant prices in the UK generally increase in the evening, so this Groupon deal would offer greater savings if you used it for dinner.
