M&S Premier Car Insurance: Great Cover at a Low Price

Written by Karen Bryan

marks and spencer premier car insuranceI recently renewed our car insurance. As always I started off by using a price comparison site, on this occasion confused.com. Now while I advocate that you try to save more to keep living expenses down, I don’t go for the very cheapest car insurance.  I don’t want to have an enormous excess, but do want to protect our no claims bonus and have legal cover. I also find it’s often cheaper to buy breakdown cover as part of the motor insurance policy.

However the prices displayed on insurance price comparison sites can be a misleading if you are looking for more than the basic cover, as when you start to add extras such as a lower excess, breakdown cover and courtesy car to the lower priced premiums, the total price may end up higher than if you go for a premium insurance product which often includes these extras at no additional cost. I’ve had this issue with home insurance when Direct Line was better value because it included annual worldwide travel insurance as part of the Direct Line Home Insurance Plus cover.

After a bit of research I decided to go with M&S car insurance; their premier policy cost £289 for comprehensive cover for my husband and I to drive our Skoda Fabia 1.4td for an estimated annual mileage of 12,000 with class 1 business use. The M&S motor insurance policy has an excess of £150, includes legal cover, keycare and RAC breakdown cover for the UK and Europe.

I thought that M&S premier car insurance offered us excellent value for money. I acknowledge that between our car, the area in which we live, our 9+ years of no claims discount and the fact we’re in our 50s, we are likely to get some of the lowest priced motor insurance available.
