I believe that you should live for today, as well as plan for tomorrow; I’m not advocating total hedonism but an appreciation of what is good in your life. Try to enjoy life now, whether that be through travel and leisure pursuits or spending time with family and friends.
You may need to make some compromises and sacrifices in planning for the future, but I don’t believe that they should be at the total detriment of your everyday life. Help Me To Save’s aim to give you some pointers on using money to enable you to live the life you want now and in the future.
One of the biggest luxuries you can give yourself is time, so that you don’t have to rush around, watching the clock to fit everything into your busy schedule. But then conversely, if you have more time, you could end up spending more money doing the things you enjoy.
Of course work takes up a lot of time and energy for most of us, so you could argue that doing a job you love should improve your day to day life. There’s a lot of talk about quitting the cubicle and pursuing your dream job. I don’t think it’s that straightforward; I gave up my day job to become a self employed online publisher but I still have spend quite a bit of time on tasks that aren’t my cup of tea e.g. search engine optimisation and selling ads.
